A Bridge Between Beloit Memorial High School and Our Community
This is my first year as a Knight Ambassador, and I am enjoying the opportunity to be a positive student voice and share the many attributes and successes in our high school and with my classmates. The program began in 2022 as a way for students to become involved in promoting all that Beloit Memorial High School offers. It is also a way to build a bridge and connect with business, community, and civic leaders, community advocates, our higher education partners, prospective students and families, and even the media.
At first, our primary role was to give tours of our high school, but our role has expanded to participate in district and community events. Again, looking for ways to connect my high school and classmates with a broader community of people and organizations. In August, the Knight Ambassadors helped host the Commander and crew of the USS Beloit. We gave them a tour of our high school, talked with them about our experiences, and presented them with a small gift of appreciation. It was so cool to be a part of a city-wide event celebrating their roles and responsibilities as crew members of the USS Beloit. It is safe to say that they were impressed with Beloit Memorial and our students.
Being an Ambassador helps to reinforce my communication skills, especially when speaking during tours and at events. I also have the opportunity to meet and greet people and make them feel welcome. I have many plans for the future and believe that is possible because of the staff at Beloit Memorial and the many advantages given to students – including the Knight Ambassador program. Upon graduation, I plan to continue my education in the medical field, pursuing a nursing or surgical technician degree.
I want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to our Beloit Memorial High School Expo on Wednesday, December 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. You can experience student performances, learn more about our course offerings, check out our Academies, visit our CTE department, and so much more. You can even take a tour with a Knight Ambassador. I hope to see you there.
