Dear Aldrich Families,
I am proud to introduce myself as your new, Aldrich Intermediate School principal, Joe Vrydaghs. I share this work with Sheila Marshall, who is our Assistant Principal here at Aldrich.
I've worked in the School District of Beloit since 2001, first as a third grade teacher at Robinson Elementary for two years, as a fifth grade teacher at Converse Elementary for 7 years, and then, after reconfiguration, as a fifth grade teacher at Burdge Elementary for 2 years. I loved teaching, working with my colleagues, learning from great, talented principals and most of all, the opportunity to work with our kids during this time. In 2012, I became an assistant principal at McNeel. This opportunity was one of the formative experiences in my life. I enjoyed each day and learned constantly by working with a powerful team of administrators, a dedicated group of educators, and a fascinating group of students. In April of 2013, I was named the principal of Burdge Elementary and was afforded another grand opportunity to work with an amazing group of educators, kids, and families. My return to McNeel as the 4th-6th grade co-principal during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years was a whirlwind of learning and growing as I worked hand in hand with Mr. Bosco and a talented team of educators and administrators to create a brand new school: McNeel Intermediate School.
I am honored to join hands with you now and continue to move forward in the great work already begun here at Aldrich. I am so excited to meet the students, the families, and the teachers...to connect with them and to begin our work together. I invite you to stop in to Aldrich anytime and say, "Hello."
Mr. Joe Vrydaghs
