School District of Beloit Announces Attendance Campaign

BELOIT, WI (WREX) – The School District of Beloit announces the launch of its district-wide “Attendance Matters” campaign, designed to improve school attendance rates by engaging students, families, staff and community partners.

This initiative aims to provide every student and family with the resources and opportunities needed for academic success.

“Our Attendance Matter campaign seeks to create a supportive environment where students, families, staff, and our community members collaborate to prioritize education and enable every student to reach their full potential,” said Melissa Beavers, Executive Director of Pupil Services. “Through collaboration, increased awareness, and tangible support, we believe we will make a meaningful impact on attendance rates and overall student success.”

The campaign features a multi-faceted approach, including a dedicated website and a section on the district’s free app, offering valuable resources, success stories, and updates.

“We will also send monthly voice, text, and email messages to families and students,” said Monica Krysztopa, Chief of Communications and Marketing. “Our comprehensive strategy encompasses traditional and social media outreach, podcasts, blogs, and student-centered initiatives like attendance challenges, reward programs, and peer mentoring. These efforts are designed to create positive classroom and school environment that encourages consistent attendance.”

“Every day of school is an opportunity for growth and learning. Through this campaign, we want to share the benefits of consistent school attendance with our families and students,” said Superintendent Dr. Willie E. Garrison II

Garrison also highlighted that the district will host workshops and informational sessions throughout the school year, with families, students, and community members invited to attend. “By coming together with an emphasis on attendance, we can build a community that champions and supports every child’s path to academic success.”
