News Release: School District of Beloit and Dozens of Community Partners to Host 2nd Annual Community Health Fair

Beloit, Wisconsin, July 16, 2024 – The School District of Beloit announces the return of its highly anticipated 2nd annual Community Health Fair, scheduled for Saturday, August 10, at Beloit Memorial High School’s field house. Open to all, this event is free and promises a day dedicated to health, wellness, and community unity. 

This collaborative event made possible by our generous community partners, aims to promote health and wellness across our community. From children to adults, attendees will have access to a wide array of services, including immunizations, dental assessments, school supplies, haircuts, food, performances, and engaging activities for all ages — all provided free of charge. 

"We are grateful for the overwhelming support from our community partners who have helped make this fair possible," said Samuel Karns, Principal of Todd Elementary School and one of the fair coordinators. "From health and dental assessments to school supplies, haircuts, and food, everything is absolutely free." 

For convenience, a free shuttle service to and from the fair is provided. The shuttle will operate from Todd, Merrill, and Hackett Elementary Schools and at the Eclipse Center by Community Action, starting at 10 a.m. Shuttles will run every 20 to 30 minutes, ensuring everyone can easily join us for this exciting event at Beloit Memorial High School’s field house. 

Fair partnerships include organizations such as Beloit Health Systems, SSM Health, Beloit Area Community Health Center, HealthNet of Rock County, Mercy Health, Community Action, FritoLay, Beloit Police Department, Dabadooya, Durham School Services, Youth2Youth, Hispanos Unidos, and many local barbershops and hair salons. 

“Together, these organizations want to foster a healthier and stronger community,” said Superintendent Dr. Willie E. Garrison II. "Our community partner relationships are the backbone of our initiatives and outreach to our broader community. We are thankful for their collaboration in our 2nd annual Community Health Fair and ensuring that all children in our city have access to health services, school supplies, food, and fun activities as families prepare for the start of a new school year.”
