The School District of Beloit social studies educators are dedicated to working collaboratively to teach a vertically, WI standards-aligned curriculum that is intentionally designed to be rigorous and engaging, using multiple perspectives and authentic learning experiences that build student confidence and curiosity, resulting in their ability to critically analyze their world while providing them with the skills and desire to make their world a better place.
Kindergarten Social Studies Units

Unit 1 - Working and Playing with Others
Students will learn about civic friendship and the benefit of compromise. They will also participate in a community through building relationships, making change, and problem-solving.

Unit 2 - Self and Identity
Students will be able to answer questions like “Who am I?” and “What makes me, me?” They will also identify patterns of change and continuity to self, family, and community over time.

Unit 3 - Economics
Students will study resources that are useful/important to them, their family, and their community. They will also identify the cost of everyday goods (milk, bread, fruit, vegetables, etc.).

Unit 4 - Geography
Students will identify and explain differences between rural and urban areas. They will also categorize characteristics of the local community.
