Art Showcase
Student talents in the visual performing arts area including art, drama, singing, instrumental, are showcased for the community to enjoy once a year at BMHS.

Art Workshops
Students identified in the arts are invited to attend art workshops throughout the school year. Some of the previous year's workshops were held at Doodles downtown Beloit, MaddieStrong Studios in Milton, and at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Arts Immersion Day
Arts Immersion Day
Arts Immersion Day is held at UW-Whitewater through the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network. Participating students select from classes in art, music, drama, and more. All participants also attend a professional theater production featuring a “talk-back” session with the actors over lunch. College Matters
College Matters
This half-day forum is held at the University of Wisconsin Madison and targets high school juniors. Students will receive valuable information regarding college selection, how to prepare for writing essays and applications, tips for getting quality recommendations, and honors programs. Students will hear from both a panel of admissions counselors from university and private colleges and a group of current college students who will share advice and tips. Opportunities will be provided for small group interaction and activities.

Creativity and Leadership Workshops
Identified leaders and creativity students come together for several workshop sessions to strengthen leadership and creativity skills and put his or her skills to work with like-minded peers throughout the district.

D.R.I.V.E.N. HS Leadership Conference
D.R.I.V.E.N. HS Leadership Conference
The High School Leadership Conference is a one-day event for a team of high school students who will participate in a variety of workshops and large group activities to develop leadership skills. Content focuses on topics concerning leadership such as ethics, cooperation, and teamwork. Students will interact with students from other high schools and sometimes develop a project to develop further once they return to school.

Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization. The purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. DI offers seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Academic tournaments take place around the world where teams have the opportunity to present their solutions to trained appraisers. Students have fun and gain confidence in their ability to solve any challenge. In working to solve the Challenges, teams learn 21st-century skills (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship, and courage) to build on their unique strengths. Kids @ BIFF
The Beloit International Film Festival invites all fifth-grade students to become film critics and be a part of the Beloit International Film Festival. Additional information can be found on the Beloit International Film Festival website.

Math 24
Math 24
Make the number 24 using the four numbers on a game card. You can add subtract multiply and divide. Use all four numbers but use each number only once. There is at least one solution to every card. Cards have three levels of difficulty. Grades 4 through 8 have the opportunity to compete both locally at BMHS and regionally at UW-Madison. Math Meet
Math Meet is a competition for students in grades 5th through 8th. There are two separate teams; a 5th/6th grade team and a 7th/8th grade team that travels to compete against students from other students in the greater Dane area. Middle School Leadership Conference
Middle School Leadership Conference
This leadership conference provides activities to develop leadership talents and strengths for middle school students. Ardan James combines magic-type illusion with mime movement and uses contemporary music, ventriloquism, and audience participation to thoroughly entertain the children while they learn. The afternoon is spent in small groups doing hands-on activities. Pioneering Your Future in STEM
Pioneering Your Future in STEM
The Alliant Energy Pioneering Your Future in STEM event is open to girls in fifth through eighth grade at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. It provides an opportunity to learn about the exciting career opportunities that are available for women interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on, interactive sessions that involve critical thinking, experimenting, learning the design process, and using problem-solving skills to solve real-world challenges. Science Immersion Day
Science Immersion Day
This event is designed for high-ability 5th and 6th-grade students who love science and who have rarely, if ever, been on college campuses. By exposing them to college opportunities, science labs, and chances to talk with professors and students, these students will have a better understanding of the courses they should take in middle school and high school to set themselves up for college STEM majors. Southern Lakes Anthology
Southern Lakes Anthology
An opportunity for young authors and artists to have their work published. Students create works of prose, poetry, art, cartoon, or illustrated writing that connects to the year’s theme.
Resources are available to help school districts kick off this activity and manage it in their schools. Students are introduced to the theme in October, local judging happens in December in school districts, SLALN final judging is in January, and work selected is published in the anthology book. Students are honored in May at UW Whitewater during an afternoon reception at the Irving Young Auditorium. Additional information can be found on the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network website.

Women in STEM
Women in STEM
Women in STEM Career Day is a one-day event for high school women to learn about careers that require creative problem solving, encourage forward-thinking, make a difference in society, and share the future of our world. The purpose of this program is to recruit more women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Women remain underrepresented in the science and engineering workforce with the greatest disparities occurring in engineering, computer science, and the physical sciences.
