Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you have an All-Day 4K program?
Yes! Our 4K students are in our elementary schools and run on the same schedule and calendar.
-
Is there a fee for 4K?
The 4K program is tuition free. However, there is a $25 materials fee for families to pay at the beginning of the school year.
-
Is 4K required?
Enrollment in 4K is not required by the state of Wisconsin. Our district, however, supports and recommends 4K education for its academic and social/emotional advantages to our students.
-
When can I enroll my child?
Enrollment opens the first Monday in February. Parent/Guardians can enroll at the Kolak Education Center at 1500 4th Street from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm in the Central Enrollment Office. For more information call (608) 361- 4171.

4K students receive the same services as all other elementary students. Students are bussed if they reside more than one mile away from the school site.
-
Is there an age cutoff for 4K?
Students must be 4 years old on or before September 1 according to the Department of Public Instruction.
-
Is toilet training required to attend All-Day 4K?
Students are not required to be toilet trained to participate in the program, and will not be turned away if they are not toilet trained. All students in this age group have accidents, therefore it is a good idea to have a change of clothing in their backpack. Each classroom has a teacher and para educator to help students with the bathroom.
-
Does my child need to go to school everyday?
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Kids will learn early on that going to school on time, every day is important. It is important that students build the habit of daily school attendance beginning in 4K. Students can begin to fall behind even if they miss just a day or two every few weeks.
-
What supplies do parents need to purchase?
School Supply lists are available for enrolled students.
-
What Schedule do 4K students follow?
4K students follow the School District of Beloit Elementary School Calendar.
-

-
What record keeping is required in 4K?
Each school is responsible for creating and maintaining a student cumulative file that includes student enrollment information, immunizations, age verification, as well as documentation of parent conferences, end-of-year cumulative reports, and documentation of student assessment. We encourage enrolled families to access Skyward for all relevant student information.
-
Does the School District of Beloit accept children who live in another school district?
Four-year-olds who reside outside the school district may follow the Open Enrollment process only if their home district offers a 4-year-old Kindergarten program.
