Podcast - SDB in the Spotlight
There’s a nine-week season that culminates in a 5K walk and run event in Waunakee. Each day, groups have a 90-minute practice. There are lessons on life skills like empathy, how to be a good friend and decision making. Discussions on those topics are followed by a running activity, like relays or games of tag.
The Purple Knights won first place for their idea that aided farmers in their crop drying time. Ray Watkins, Moises Guerrero Sandoval, Dulce Figueroa, and Brooklyn Watkins collaborated on their modular design for the farming community. Not only does it save time and money, but it’s environmentally friendly.
As a Beloit native and a fixture at helping out at an array of events at Beloit Memorial, Brian Denu has always put a huge emphasis on bettering the community.

Beloit Memorial High School reaches out to students in back-to-school campaign, Showing Up Together!
"BMHS just kicked off its school year in a unique way...with teachers and staff visiting students' homes door-to-door the week before school."
“We talked all week about putting each other first and sacrificing for each other,” Dement said. “When adversity hit, they rallied for each other. I told them in the huddle after the game, that’s how you come together as a team. Picking each other up. They did that tonight and you saw the result. This is the kind of football team I thought we had.”
