Email Joe VrydaghsHello Warrior Families,
I am Mr. Vrydaghs, the proud principal of Aldrich Intermediate School and I share the work of leadership with my two assistant principals, Ms. Sheila Marshall and Mrs. Sinem Bertling.
I've worked in the School District of Beloit since 2001, first as a third grade teacher at Robinson Elementary for two years, as a fifth grade teacher at Converse Elementary for 7 years, and then, after reconfiguration, as a fifth grade teacher at Burdge Elementary for 2 years. I loved teaching, working with my colleagues, learning from great, talented principals and most of all, the opportunity to work with our kids during that time. In 2012, I became an assistant principal at McNeel. This opportunity was one of the formative experiences of my life. I enjoyed each day and learned constantly by working with a powerful team of administrators, a dedicated group of educators, and a fascinating group of students and their families. In April of 2013, I was named the principal of Burdge Elementary and was afforded another significant opportunity to work with a dedicated team of educators, kids, and their families. My return to McNeel as the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade co-principal during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years was another grand learning and growing opportunity as I worked hand in hand with Mr. Bosco and a talented team of educators and administrators in order to create a brand new school: McNeel Intermediate School.
I am honored to join hands with you here at Aldrich, the Home of the Warriors, as we partner together in the great work of our Aldrich Mission which is to provide each of our Aldrich students everything they need in order to achieve success.
I invite you to stop in, say “Hello,” and experience the “Aldrich Difference” for yourself.
Thank you and GO BLUE!!!
Mr. Joseph Vrydaghs

Email Sinem BertlingHello Aldrich Families,
My name is Sinem Bertling and I am one of the Assistant Principals here at Aldrich. I have worked for the School District of Beloit since the fall of 2019 and am starting my 18th year as a professional educator. Prior to coming to Aldrich, I had worked as a School Counselor for 6 years in Green County and as a counselor and Assistant Principal for 9 years in my home country which is Turkey. Being an immigrant educator, I have a deep appreciation for multiculturalism and all the cultural richness it brings to our lives.
In between these professional experiences, I spent 6 years working with traumatized children and teens for a non-profit agency. I had also chaired a county based youth coalition as a volunteer working on preventing risky youth behaviors for over 10 years. All of these experiences provided me with a perspective on the impact of student mental health on learning and school life.
As an immigrant educator, I value diversity, equity and inclusion extensively. I strive to create a warm, welcoming and safe environment for our students where they feel appreciated, valued and respected. My core belief is that we can improve learning and academic achievement immensely by improving students’ social, emotional and mental wellness.
We have a great team here at Aldrich and also at the School District of Beloit who are passionate about educating our children and youth.
I am looking forward to working with you and your students and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. All the best and good luck to you for the 2022-2023 school year.
Sincerely,
Sinem Bertling -
