School District of Beloit Supports Next Steps Family Resilience Center

Family Services of Southern Wisconsin partners with Beloit School District to begin accepting donations for the Next Steps Family Resilience Center.

The Beloit School District offered temporary storage space at the Wright Elementary School, allowing Family Services to collect furniture and household essentials donated by the public.

These donations will be used to furnish the 18 apartments in the Family Resilience Center, allowing families at the center to be welcomed into a fully-furnished home.

“We are very excited to be at a point in this project where we are thinking about how to make these apartments into homes for our families and fill them with furniture and items where our families can share meals, do homework, and read a bedtime story,” says Kelsey Hood-Christenson, Family Services President and CEO. “We are grateful for the partnership with the School District of Beloit in allowing us to use Wright Elementary School for storage, as we can begin the process of collecting these items now, which will help us to start serving families quicker.”

The Next Steps Family Resilience Center is on schedule to open in Spring 2025, providing safe housing to single-parent families.

Family Services says they will make an announcement on social media when they‘re ready to accept donations. They are looking for items in good condition that aren’t broken or torn.
