Beloit Memorial Tops Burlington 3-0 as Beckman Denu Breaks School Record for Shutouts!
Beloit Memorial’s boys soccer team tuned up for WIAA postseason play by shutting out Burlington 3-0 on Tuesday night at Jacobson Field.
Beloit goaltender Beckham Denu broke the school record for career shutouts with his 22nd.
The Purple Knights (13-2-4) earned a No. 6 seed and will host Waunakee at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Jacobson Field. If they win, the Knights will play the winner between No. 3 Madison East and No. 14 Badger in a match on Saturday.
“We had a very convincing 3-0 victory,” Beloit Memorial head coach Brian Denu said of the regular-season finale.
Denu’s younger son, Banks, returned to the lineup after missing two games with an injury and got the game rolling with his first goal 10 minutes into the first half. Eduardo Gonzalez-Terrero made it 2-0 with a goal two minutes later.
Banks Denu finished off the scoring midway through the second half with his second goal of the game and 18th goal of the season.
Goalie Beckham Denu had four saves to achieve his milestone shutout.
“A huge accomplishment made even better by setting it on Senior Night,” Coach Denu said.
