We have evaluated our program goals for the past year in our after school programming. Here is a summary of our goals and outcomes along with some of our ideas for next year.
CLC Program Goals and Evaluation
State Goal: Challenge youth to develop as learners.
Goal #1:
To increase overall proficiency in Reading to 70% as shown through our IRLA and ENIL data
What progress have you made towards this goal?
While we have made progress towards this goal, we do continue to struggle. We are adjusting our direct instruction of literacy in our after school programming to give our students more time on-task in smaller groups which will be able to focus on individual strengths and areas of focus. We adopted a new reading series in the Fall of 2022 which uses an IRLA and ENIL to track students’ progress.
Goal #2:
To increase overall proficiency in Math to 70% as shown through our Math Benchmark Assessent Data
What progress have you made towards this goal?
We have made significant progress with this goal through our hands on approach to math instruction in our after school programming. We will continue to use this approach and will add additional activities to both grow and challenge our students.
State Goal: Support the development of other skills necessary for student success.
Goal #1:
To improve student understanding of their emotions and how it affects their behavior with 50% of our CLC attendees reporting that they practice one or more of the calming techniques taught. This will be measured through surveys and discussions.
What progress have you made towards this goal?
We have been very successful at giving our students calming tools to use according to our feedback. Our overall referrals are down dramatically. We are going to branch out and work with a group of 3rd graders to develop their skills to help mentor our younger students in Zones, The Leader in Me and Restorative Practices curricula.
Goal #2:
To develop student understanding of their biases and stereotypes and how that affects their daily interactions.
What progress have you made towards this goal?
While this goal is difficult to quantify, we continue to work with our AMAZE curriculum and other resources and literature to help our students to understand not only themselves but others around them. We will be adding The Leader in Me resources and curricular materials to work to develop our students as the leaders they are so that they can advocate to themselves and others.
State Goal: Engage families in support of students learning.
Goal #1:
To improve the number of families involved during the school day and beyond through volunteering or coming to family events.
What progress have you made towards this goal?
We have had more families participating than in years past. Because we can offer virtual options, we are able to reach more families. We are looking forward to continuing to grow our family participation.
Goal #2:
To educate families on different opportunities to engage in family involvement outside of the school walls.
What progress have you made towards this goal?
We are able to reach out to families virtually as well as in person which has increased our involvement. We have created materials and given our families access to materials to support the use of resources at home and in the community. We have supported opportunities for family functions outside of school grounds to promote family time together.
