    • Track Meet Volunteers Needed
       
      We are looking for volunteers for the elementary track meets. Dates are Tuesday, May 20 and Wed., May 21st in the afternoon. (11:45-2:45). You can choose to do one day or two – whatever your schedule allows. Contact: Sarah Cary, scary@sdb.k12.wi.us or 361-2431.

    • Live Animal Show
       
      The Beloit Memorial High School Environmental Club, in cooperation with the Welty Environmental Center, is having the 4th Annual LIve Animal Show, on Friday, April 25, starting at 6 pm, in the high school auditorium (1225 Fourth Street).  The Racine Zoo will present a show on the Wildlife of Wisconsin. Admission is only $5 at the door (children 3 and under get in for free!).

      We are excited to announce a new place to find flyers from the district and community - all in one place (click here).  More content will continually be added with flyers representing programs from youth sports to local library news and other community events.

    • Calling All Burdge Alumni!

       
      Burdge will have a celebration on June 8, 1-4 pm, with a short program beginning at 2 pm, before the school closes this summer as an elementary school.  If you would like to be part of a choir presentation, please call Pat Rohr, Burdge Secretary, at 361-2005, with your name and phone number (or address) by May 1.  If you have pictures of classes, events or of the school that Burdge can borrow, please contact Pat Rohr.  Pictures will be scanned and immediately returned.  You may also email pictures directly to her at parohr@sdb.k12k.wi.us.

    • Summer School Dates Set

       
      Summer school will be held June 16 through August 1.  (Monday through Friday)
      There will be no school on July 3rd & 4th due to the Fourth of July holiday and July 10th & 11th due to the Beloit Learning Conference.

    Automotive Center Automotive Program Featured
    The School District of Beloit Automotive Program was featured in the trade magazine:  Transportation Today Wisconsin.  The program is being revitalized with an involved community advisory committee, collaboration with Blackhawk Technical Education and instruction by education and industry certified teacher, Aaron Troxell.  Click here to read more (scroll to page 8).
     

    BMHS Essentially Ellington

    Jazz Band Receives National Honor
    The Beloit Memorial Jazz Band, under the direction of Chris Behrens just received their invitation to participate at Essentially Ellington. The nations most prestigious High School Jazz Band competition and festival held at the Lincoln Center in New York. For BMHS this is the third year in a row and the fourth year total.  Click here to read more.
     
     
    2nd Grade Math Rap Second Grade Math Rap

    The second grade classroom of Renita Garner and Val Johnson at Converse Elementary School have jumped in the world of iPad learning with both feet.  Students have been using a variety of apps to Skype with classrooms in Italy, finish research projects, "mirror" work on the Smartboard for collaborative works and even making videos to enhance lessons in math.  Fans of the Illumination Entertainment film, "Despicable Me", will especially get a kick out of this math rap showcasing addition of doubles.  Click here to access the video on Youtube.
