Teacher Appreciation Week

We honored and recognized 65 amazing teachers who were nominated by SDB Families and Students. They are truly making a difference in the lives of our students. Take a moment to read the nominations for each of them.

We are so fortunate to have a District with such caring, dedicated, and compassionate teachers who bring out the best in our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Annual 4th and 5th Grade Track Meet

Our Aldrich, Cunningham, Fruzen and McNeel 4th and 5th grade students participated in two great days full of track and field events. Thank you to our physical education teachers for coordinating this event and our staff and high school students for volunteering to make it happen.

May Community Appreciation Night

We honored, recognized, and thanked deserving students, staff, and community partners during our May Community Appreciation Night. Thank you to these amazing individuals and organizations who extend outreach and support to our students, families, and district. Help us thank Jai'lon Carter, Elijah Robinson II, Javon Scales, Jedidiah Sheally, Beloit Cares, the Bosco Family, GFWC Beloit Junior Woman's Club, Hendricks CareerTek, HES Facility Management, and Project 16:49.

Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival

Beloit Memorial High School Choral and Orchestra students competed at the Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival. Congratulations on their silver and gold medals!

Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and we want to celebrate this month by honoring staff in our district who are role models and are making a positive difference. We honored Amanda Sellen, Samuel Karns, and Alka Sharma! 

Senior Academic Awards Night

Beloit Memorial High School celebrated our seniors during our Senior Academic Scholarship Awards Night. We congratulate them on their scholarships, awards, and accolades and wish all our seniors the very best as they graduate and move on to jobs, apprenticeships, college, and more!

Gaston Walking School Bus

The Gaston Walking School Bus has been a huge success! The average number of students using the Walking Bus each day is 19. We thank Mrs. Handrich for being the main "driver" along with her service dog in training, Nigel. Principal Lewis and other staff are also “driving” the bus! With such success, Gaston is looking to expand the program even more!

Stellar performance at Music in the Parks

Our Aldrich-Fruzen Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble traveled to Gurney, IL to compete in the Music in the Parks at 6 Flags Great America.
⭐️Jazz Ensemble earned first place with a rating of Superior and a score of 96, earning the highest score of any group in the competition.
 ⭐️Concert Orchestra earned a rating of Excellent, was first place in their class, and first place overall in the Middle School/Jr. High School Division.
⭐️Concert Band earned a rating of excellent.
 ⭐️Jareth Martinez-Garcia received the Outstanding Jazz Soloist Award.

Job Olympics at UW-Whitewater

Students in our transition program recently participated in Job Olympics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Our students did a great job performing various job-related tasks and even earned a medal. A shout-out to our staff for making this unique opportunity possible for our students.

Essentially Ellington 2023
