Beloit Memorial blanks Mequon Homestead in boys soccer 5-0

BELOIT — Beloit Memorial’s boy soccer team dominated visiting Mequon Homestead 5-0 in non-conference action at Jacobson Field on Thursday night.

Banks Denu scored the first of his three goals just 21 seconds into the game off a pass from Jared Barajas. Denu scored his second goal off John Anthony Aburto’s pass in the 31st minute.

“We were a bit unlucky to not have a larger lead at halftime as we hit the post and crossbar several times,” Beloit head coach Brian Denu said.

The Purple Knights picked up where they left off, scoring in the 50th minute when Banks Denu found Alberto open down the right sideline and he beat his defender , slitting the ball back for Barajas to score for a 3-0 lead.

Banks Denu extended the lead to 4-0 in the 52nd minute after a pass from Gio Gonzalez, crushing it past the goalkeeper from 20 yards out. Alburto scored the fifth goal in the 59th minute off a pass from Brandon Luis-Aragon.

In addition to the scoring, Beloit got solid defense from Adan Munoz, Luis-Aragon, Manny Giles, Angel Aguilar and Jesse Chavez.

The Knights are off until they host Waterford for a Southern Lakes Conference matchup Tuesday.
