Beloit Memorial boys soccer team opens SLC play by blanking Burlington 6-0

BURLINGTON, Wis. — Beloit Memorial’s boys soccer team opened Southern Lakes Conference play with a decisive 6-0 victory over host Burlington.

“The entire team did a great job of playing composed, holding possession and taking chances when they were given to us,” Beloit head coach Brian Denu said.

The Purple Knights built up a 4-0 halftime lead with four different players scoring. John Anthony Aburto led off the scoring in the 11th minute on a pass from Miguel Aguilar. Banks Denu scored the second goal in the 16th minute off another assist from Aguilar.

Abraham Perez scored on a penalty kick in the 18th minute and Miguel scored one of his own in the 25th minute.

Aburto made it 5-0 in the 55th minute off a penalty kick and Banks Deny scored the final goal in the 56th minute.

The Knights will host Mequon Homestead Thursday for a tough nonconference matchup.

“We are still working on getting familiar with one another again and finding our fitness, but we are playing some really good soccer right now and the boys should be very proud of themselves,” Denu said.
