Effective the 2008-2009 school
year, students in 5th, 8th, and 11th grades, as well as,
professional educators and administrators take a technology
self-assessment in the spring of each year. Results are used
to support the SDB media and technology plan and guide the
development of learning opportunities.
The original survey was developed by the library media specialists
and teachers of the Bellingham Public Schools who based it upon the
Mankato Scale first developed by the Mankato (Minnesota) Public
Schools to measure the growth of student technology skills. In
November 2008, the School District of Beloit modified this tool and
created an online version.
