American Legion Auxiliary Girl Scout Achievement Award

Applicant must have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award and be a High School Junior or Senior at the time of the Application. Must be actively involved in a religious institution and must have received the appropriated religious emblem at the Cadet or Senior Scout Level. Interested girls must have demonstrated practical citizenship in the religious institution, school, Girl scouting, and community. Girls must also include at least one letter of recommendation as well all application materials. Applications must be submitted to the Local American Legion Auxiliary Unit President of or Before April 1. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Angel on My Shoulder Scholarship

Scholarships will be available through the Angel On My Shoulder Foundation to Wisconsin high school graduating seniors. Applicants may apply if they are a cancer survivor, have an immediate family member affected by cancer and/or are an Angel On My Shoulder Volunteer. Scholarships will be granted based on need and qualifications. All applications are subject to review by a committee selection process. Students must plan to attend a four -year college, specialty or technical school. This scholarship will be presented to the recipient by a representative of Angel On My Shoulder/or a school representative at their scholarship/awards program. Students must provide proof of enrollment to the school of their choice. Upon providing proof of enrollment, payment will be sent to the school of choice. Beloit Police Benefit Association

Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or better, demonstrate commitment to and involvement in volunteer community service or work experience, plan to major in the field of criminal justice in the Fall of or Spring 2010 and be a positive role model for your high school and community. Students can pick up an application in the Guidance Office. All Applications are due March 27. No late applications will be accepted.
Beloit Lioness Club Scholarship

The Beloit Lioness Club is offering a $500 dollar scholarship to one Beloit area student. This scholarship is for a graduating senior female planning to continue her education and who has participated in school activities such as sports, clubs, drama etc.. and community activities (at least one). The deadline for this scholarship is April 15, . Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Beloit Memorial Athletic Booster Club Scholarship

This scholarship is available for the student athlete who themselves or their parent or legal guardian have been a member of the Athletic Booster Club on or before January 2, and have participated in club activities. Applicants must have a 2.5 or better GPA and have completed one season in any varsity sport at Beloit Memorial High School prior to graduation. The recipient is eligible to receive the award after completing one semester/ term at a post secondary learning institution as described above. Applications may be obtained from the Athletic Director’s office and the Guidance Office. All applications must be turned in by 4PM on Wednesday, April 2, to Athletic Director, BMHS, 1225 Fourth Street, Beloit, WI 53511.
Beloit Area Retired Educators Association Scholarship
Several $500 scholarships
The BAREA is offering scholarships for those students interested in teaching. Students must rank in the top 25% of their class and they must provide references. Students must have all application materials postmarked by April 1, . Applications are available in the Guidance Office File Cabinet. Applications must be returned to Sam Niehans, 2632 S. Blackhawk Community Credit Union Scholarship

Students who are members of Blackhawk Community Credit Union may apply for scholarships through the website or pick up an application in the Guidance Office. Students must have at least a 2.0 G.P.A and student must also submit a 350 word essay. Applications are due March 31. Charter Communications Student Scholarship Program

This scholarship is for students with a 2.8 GPA or higher who intend to major in Marketing, Communications, Accounting, Computer Technology, Engineering, business or a related field. Students must submit with their application two letters of recommendation, and a 250 word essay. All applications must be postmarked by March 31. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship
Various Amounts
This scholarship is awarded to African American Senior High School girls, who plan to attend a college or university. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, housing or fees. This scholarship application requires: a 300-500 word essay, letters of recommendation, community and school involvement, a personal interview, as well as the student ranking in the upper third of her class and have a GPA of 2.5 or above. Applications when available will be located in the Guidance Office. All scholarship applications must be completed and postmarked by April 5. No hand delivered applications will be accepted.
Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers Scholarship

Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or better, demonstrate commitment to and involvement in volunteer community service or work experience, plan to major in the field of criminal justice in the Fall of or Spring 2010 and be a positive role model for your high school and community. FRA/LA FRA and Colonel Hazel Elizabeth Benn, USMC Scholarship

This scholarship is for unmarried children of a FRA member in good students who served or is now serving in the US Navy as an enlisted medical rating assigned to and serving with the US Marine Corp. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. All applications and supporting materials must be postmarked by April 15.
Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund

Janice M. Scott died in the Sept. 11 Terrorist Attacks on the Pentagon. A scholarship fund was created in her name to give well deserved high school students regardless of race, creed, or color an opportunity to attend a four year college or university. Students must have a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community services or other extra curricular activities. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Applications must include all documentation and supporting materials and must be postmarked by March 31, 2010.
Harry H. Bliss Memorial Scholarship

The Harry H. Bliss Memorial Scholarship is intended to assist students prepare for a career in Communications and Journalism. Preference will be given to those students who express an interest in fields such as news writing and reporting, editorial writing, editing, writing and reporting, news photography, advertising, broadcast announcing and production, broadcast engineering, and or other areas having applications in communications media. Applicants for the Harry H. Bliss scholarships must be in the top 50% of their graduating high school class and serious consideration will be given to the applicant’s school and community citizenship accomplishments and extra curricular participation. All applications and supporting documentation must be April 1. The information is to be delivered or mailed by this deadline to the Janesville Gazette-WCLO/WJVL Scholarship Committee.
Herzing Cup Scholarship

This scholarship is to recognize student achievement in the following areas of study: Business, Technology, Visual Communication, and Health Care. All Completed Applications receive either a $300 award to Herzing or $150 award to the college or university or student’s choice. Only 2 nominations per high school and 1 nominee per category will be accepted. Students can also win the prizes based on their submission including a 1st place winner who will win $1000 to Herzing or $500 to college or university of student’s choice. More details are available in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is March 26.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program
Award Amount Varies
This scholarship is for minority college bound students who show academic promise, leadership, and demonstrate financial need. Students must complete an application online by March 31, . All ACT/SAT scores, Letters of Recommendation, and official transcript must be mailed together and received before March 31, . The minimum ACT score for this scholarship is 21 and the minimum SAT score is 1000. Students must also show a dedication to community service, which is what Jackie Robinson did. McNeel Parent’s and Teacher’s Scholarship
$300
Applicants for this scholarship must be an eight-grade graduate of McNeel with three full years of attendance at McNeel Middle School. Students must also have two recommendations from at least two different sources, participation in school, church and or community activities, and interview with the scholarship committee, a brief essay and a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA at BMHS. Applications for this scholarship must be typed. The deadline for submission of all application materials is April 14, . Applications are available in the Guidance office.
Minority Parent Scholarship
2-$250 Scholarships
The Minority Parent Organization will award two scholarships to local minority graduating seniors. Students must have a 2.5 Cumulative GPA and submit all require documentation. The applications are available in the Guidance Office and should be completed and returned to the Guidance Office by Friday April 16, 2010 at 3:15 p.m. No Exceptions. Applications must be returned to Mrs. McKinley.
Prince Hall Masonic Foundation, Inc Scholarship
30-$500 to $2000
Students interested in the Prince Hall Masonic Foundation scholarship should have the following attributes: academic achievement, excellent letters of reference, content, organization and neatness of the essay, and community involvement/ service. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline for all application materials to be submitted is March 22
Rock County Association for Home and Community Education Scholarship for FCE and Related Fields

This scholarship is for students interested in majoring in family and community education or a related field in college. Students should complete the form and return it and supporting documentation to UW-Extension/Rock County Home and Community Education, 51 South Main Street, Janesville, Wisconsin 53545 by March 22. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Rockford Health Systems Minority Nursing Scholarship
$2000 Scholarship
A $2000 dollar scholarship is being offered to an African American nursing student and a $2000 dollar scholarship is being offered to a Hispanic nursing student who is Spanish speaking. To qualify for these scholarships students must be a local resident in one of these counties (Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, McHenry, DeKalb, LaSalle, Whiteside, and Rock). The student must be admitted to a nursing program in northwest Illinois. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and also available at www.rockfordhealthsystem.org by clicking on careers. Rotary Club of Beloit

The Rotary Club of Beloit will award up to four $2000 scholarships to high school students wishing to further their education. One scholarship is designated for a student wishing to pursue a technical or two year program. There are several qualifications for this scholarship including outstanding character and leadership ability, deep sense of obligation to the community, and a plan for post secondary education. Students must complete the application and all supporting materials and all items must be post marked by April 2, 2010. Royce Elementary School Parents and Teachers Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a Royce Elm. School graduate. Applicants must be a fifth/sixth grade graduate of Royce School with at least four years in attendance at Royce. Applicants must have: at least a “B” average, participated in school, church or community activities, and submit a personal summary. This scholarship is for students interested in some form of the arts. The arts include but are not limited to theater (performing or technical), music, visual art, advocacy for art and forensics. Applicant must show active involvement in the Rock County community. Applicants must send a completed resume, a completed application, and letter of recommendation from a teacher. Verizon Wireless Black History Month Essay Contest

Verizon Wireless is awarding a scholarship to a student who has at least a 2.0 GPA and plans to attend a 2 year or 4 year college or university. The student must write the essay on “how the evolution of wireless technology has changed the world we live in”. Vietnam Veterans of America and Associates, Rock River Chapter 236
10- $300 Scholarships
To qualify for this scholarship the applicants father, mother, or grandparents must be Vietnam-era Veterans (proof is required). Service did not have to be in the Republic of Vietnam. Students interested in this application will need to pick it up in the Guidance Office. The applications must be postmarked by March 26. Volunteers in Partnership with Beloit Memorial Hospital Medical Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who plan to enter the medical profession. Students must complete the one page application and submit all supporting materials to April 14, 2010. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Students must write a paragraph on why they are interested in a medical career.
American Legion Scholarships and Awards
Schneider-Emanuel American Legion Scholarship
Three deserving graduates of any accredited Wisconsin high school will be awarded the sum of $1000 to be applied to the cost of continuing education at any degree granting college or university within the United States of America.
American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund
Many children of active-duty, National Guard or Reserve members are now members of single-parent families, an unfortunate consequences of Operation Iraqi Freedom and America's war on terror. In many cases, this also means their chances to attend college are greatly diminished. Children of military personnel killed on active duty are entitled to receive money toward a college education.

The Eight and Forty Lung and Respiratory Nursing Scholarship Fund
Assist registered nurses with advanced preparation for positions in supervision, administration, or teaching.
In 1992, past National Commander Kreul made a donation of $10,000 from his National Commander Campaign Fund. An annual $500 scholarship was immediately set up by a committee from Badger Boys State, Inc. The American Legion.
Participants in the Oratorical Scholarship Program develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States and have a chance to win up to a $5000 scholarship.
Samsung, a worldwide leader in electronics, endowed a scholarship fund of five million dollars to be administered by The American Legion. The endowment was made to show appreciation to U.S. veterans who came to the aid of Korea during its struggle against communist forces during the Korean War.

The scholarship is targeted for students who wish to pursue a career in public
service or government at an undergraduate and graduate level. Scholarships are
very competitive as you are eligible to receive up to $30,000 towards your
college education. A portion of the funds will be allocated for graduate study.
