She works with math teachers, businesses and higher education partners. She also assists with the videotaping, editing and production of the videotaped math lessons.

3D BUILDINGS
This lesson shows students using colored cubes to copy challenging patterns. Students use their spatial visualization skills to create a 3-dimensional shape from a 2-dimensional picture, making connections of volume to cubic measurement.

3D FRACTALS
Building on the lesson entitled, "Fractals," students get an up close look at computer generated fractals on the Internet. Then, in teams of four, build a 3-dimensional fractal using a Tetrahedron. The pattern continues to repeat as the class combines the smaller fractals to build an ultimate 3D tetrahedron structure together.

ANIMATED SHAPES
Students are up and out of their seats in this activity! Given clues, students work cooperatively to make shapes with string. Then they must transform that shape into another shape and document what changes needed to take place to make the new shape.

EGG CONSTRUCTIONS
Creativity is certainly a big piece in this activity. Using their prior knowledge, a compass a protractor and a ruler, students follow a sequenced set of directions to make a perfectly shaped egg. The students then make their own eggs and create an "egg-cellent" art project.

LINES OF SYMMETRY
This math lesson tied in nicely to a science unit on butterflies. Students discover the concept of congruent parts of figures and points of symmetry as they use miras to reflect images. Creative artists emerge after each student draws a butterfly using a mira, compass, protractor, and ruler to make the butterfly symmetric.

Real World Math: North American Tool Corp. Sixth grade students take a video tour of a local business. The students then work with two of the company's machinists to measure blank taps with micrometers and math each tap to its corresponding blueprint.

Students use prior knowledge to complete an assessment using cereal. The students sort the Alphabits cereal to construct a frequency table and bar graph. The data is used to form equivalent fractions, decimals and percents.

GRAPHING MIRROR MOUNT DATA
Real World Math: SSI Technologies
In this Real World scenario, students take a video tour of SSI Technologies on how vehicle mirror mounts are made. These eighth graders are then given data recorded by a person who monitors the weight of the mirror mounts to make sure the mirror mounts are within specifications. The class uses graphing calculators to enhance and reinforce the use of scatter plots and other data displays. Students draw conclusions and make recommendations to the machine operator who makes the mirror mounts.

Two Video Episodes
Students take on the role of being a water droplet in this two-day lesson. The record their travels as they randomly make their way to various places in the water cycle. Students enter their recorded data into a spreadsheet and create circle graphs to draw some conclusions about the travels of a water droplet.

This video was created to show the impact of our project on teachers and students in the School District of Beloit. This spawned more interviews and impact investigation for an upcoming video production which will include students and teachers in the School District of Janesville, the Arrowhead Library System nad TEACH Wisconsin.
